Interested in joining the lab? Additional information is povided below:

Questions about the research or joining the lab at all levels are always welcome; please contact Dr. Nava. Expect a ~1 week response time and if you still have not heard back yet, feel free to contact again.

Graduate Students: Prospective graduate students first apply through the UCLA Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry Program. The lab typically plans on taking 1-2 graduate students per year.

Undergraduate Students: UCLA undergraduates can contact Dr. Nava directly for information on available research opportunities. We can involve undergraduate students from any major at UCLA so long as they have a demonstrated interest in chemistry/biochemistry/materials sciences. While we will (and have taken) students from all backgrounds and experiences, we in general, are most interested in mentoring students who are open to committing to multiple years as members of the research group, are a chemistry or biochemistry major, and preferentially take students in their first or second year of undergraduate study.

Postdoctoral Fellows: Prospective postdocs are asked to also submit a cover letter and C.V. (update 5/23: funding is currently limited for postdoc applicants). However, we are happy to work with promising senior graduate students interested in securing external funding opportunities- please reach out to discuss possible options.

Visiting scholar/Internships: Candidates interested for visiting scholar positions or internships, including undergraduates and Master’s students from international institutions must have identified a funding source to sponsor their stay. Volunteer positions may be considered under certain circumstances.
